Thanks, no it did not help, the planel was not locked, just in case I locked and unlocked it. But I noticed something strange: when I try to drag and trop a desktop icon to the left side of the planel it does not work, but when I try to drag and drop it on the right side, then it works. Strange, especially since a couple of days ago I installed on a different machine the official trinity version (by that I mean using the builds found in deb http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity-r14.0.0/ubuntu trusty main deb-src http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity-r14.0.0/ubuntu trusty main deb http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity-builddeps-r14.0.0/ubuntu trusty main deb-src http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity-builddeps-r14.0.0/ubuntu trusty main for Kubuntu 14.04) and it worked. So is this a issue of the preliminary version I installed? thanks Uwe Brauer
