And there comes up again the option to permanently choose that session to be 
opened by default. I did not try that because I was thinking it would only 
choose the session for that one particular start-up of kate.

That is what I could not rediscover after it had appeared one time... Thanx.
So, the proposed "work-around" is obsolete ;-)
