Other suggestions: the command  (I am supposing) 
# di -sch /*
returns 
bash: di: command not found

What is di? command? software package to download? 

And konqueror returns this information: 
"FSView intentionally does not support automatic updates when changes are
made to files or directories, currently visible in FSView, from the outside."

I opened konqueror as root, and am reviewing info now. I have a picture of my 
hard drive, but so far nothing unusual. (I've seen this before, but haven't 
done it in a while.)
