On Debian I must edit the menu to run "tdesu synaptic". There is 
a "tdesudo-trinity" showing in synaptic, so I would guess "tdesudo synaptic" 
should do the trick.

Can't see what sudo brings over su however, as anyone getting your sudo 
password just has to sudo passwd root to create a root password.
