If you are not interested in multiple screens, you just need to edit them
out of xorg.conf (afaik TDE settings are not touching this anywhere).
Unless you need special xorg settings for you video to work, remove
xorg.conf and see if you can get desired behavior.

P.S. Maybe your are confused by the word screen? X screen is a virtual
entity, which can be mapped to a multiple physical displays, so not using
multiple screens doesnt mean you cant use multiple displays.
