This might go slightly off-topic, but here goes: 

I recommend giving Icecat a try, if you want a Mozilla browser like you 
remember, but with security and privacy brought up-to-date. 

If you can't find it in your repositories, it's available in source tarballs. 
Also, I found it in the Trisquel repositories, but their Ubuntu packages run 
just fine on Debian/Devuan systems. 

Personally, I don't like the idea of using Konqueror for both file management 
and as a web browser. As for the "engine" ... I only care that it works with 
TDE.
