we don't need him!

well, we do actually, but not in this case - I GOT A DESKTOP!

I booted MX again; it's got a funny text-based options window - you 
can select language etc. that helps.

but on the kernel parameter line I tried

amdgui.dc=0

which is a little ditty I found last night actually but lost track of.

now it's started a DE, seems to be some kind of xfce.

I'm going to try the little ditty on a Debian Live usb. the kernel on 
this version of MX is:

Linux mx1 5.6.0-2-amd64

it's Buster of course.

resolution looks fine btw.
