Just checked, and I am already a member of that group. 

Moreover, I seem to have reverted to that problem of network limbo, where I 
cannot go online/offline without making a mess and needing to reboot. 

The error message I am getting is this:

Unable to save network connection!

Potential causese:

* Insufficient permissions
* NetworkManager not running
* DBUS failure
############
(I would have taken a snapshot, but I find that I do not yet have 
ksnapshot-trinity installed.) 

At least I have got tdenetworkmanager's icon to look normal (a globe when it 
is running, a white square when not), and I can actually see the networks, 
just I am not allowed to use them, nor to save settings. So now I am back to 
using wicd for network, and fighting against Network Limbo Syndrome.
