Have you tried just importing them?

When you're in Kmail. click om import, tell it you want to import kmail
folders, then browse to where your old /.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail folder is.

You should get a new folder in your new kmail list of folders called kmail
import.

You can now move the messages, either manually or with import filters to where
you want them.
