Good news :)
I built TDE on Centos 5.7, it should work on the official RHEL 5, but 
the problem is that official RHEL 5 comes with almost no multimedia 
package, whereas free clones as Centos comes with some "extra" packages ...
All multimedia package that could be required for TDE 3.5.13 on RHEL 5 
(xine, ffmpeg, jack ...) are taken from 3rd party repositories, mainly 
"atrpms", and a few from "epel".

RHEL 6 has more distro-provided multimedia libraries than RHEL 5, so the 
3rd parties repositories are less needed.
Fedora does not require any 3rd party repository at all, everything is 
provided in the base distro.
