Strange firefox failure...

I have a new'ish, updated, install of kubuntu (Trinity) 10.04 and I
installed firefox (10.0.2) from the repositories.

When I (attempt to) launch firefox from the "K" menu, or from a copy of
the "K" menu dragged and dropped on either the destop or the quick
launch toolbar (where I _do_ want it), I get this (and only this) in
/var/log/messages:

  Mar 9 16:50:56 nix4 kernel: [ 6233.488442] firefox[5703]:
segfault at 0 ip (null) sp bfa57b6c error 4
      in libc-2.11.1.so[110000+153000]

(... all 1 line.)

HOWEVER, if I open a konsole window and enter `firefox`,
it works Just Fine.

I've `apt-get`ted -remove(d) -purge , and re-installed. No joy.

I have no such issue with the other installed browsers: Epiphany,
Chromium, Opera, and (of course) konqueror...

Where would I start looking? Googling (Advanced) yields nada.

Thanks!
Jonesy
