My instructions are still valid if you don't install KDE3. I will look why it fails when KDE3 is installed, but I'm pretty sure I will find a shitty kde3-related script (in /etc/profile.d/ I guess), which hardcodes environment variables to force the use of KDE3, and prevent Trinity to start.
