Try to uninstall kgtk-qt3-trinity (and maybe gtk-qt-engine-trinity); see okd mail from Slávek:

Question: when will get kgtk-qt3-trinity not longer installed by sefault - too much trouble with gtk applications. I wasn't able to use 
 * lazarus-ide
 * dropbox
 * calibre
without using using sudo before I uninstalled the culprit.
