Your friend could try to select the area where the text is supposed to 
be, and copy to clipboard, then paste into a plain text editor. It's 
possible that rather than the text going away, it (or the background) 
got switched so text and background are same color. Black-on-black  used 
to be a frequent problem with KDE version 1 in 1990's RedHat releases, 
when you tried to set up a dark theme.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, my first thought was that he was editing 
something and that it went wrong there.
That's why I asked more info. ( I don't like guessing ! )
I did a search and you are right, there were entries about it.

And btw, it was Baron's friend  :-)
