Doing CPU mining of some cryptocoins, I ran the same mining software
(compiled for 32 or 64 bit of course) on 32bit Debian Linux, then
64bit Debian, on the same hardware.

The 64bit mining achieved nearly twice the hashes per second as the 32bit.

If this is true of more than just the mining software, it could be the
reason for the apparent speed-up.

WINE still has only 32bit binaries, which is sad, but I live with that
because of Debian's "multi-arch".
