Slavek sent me some updates which fixed the kernel conflict. 
kpowersave now seems alive and happy!

I note that '/opt/trinity/bin/kpowersave' is now at work.

many thanks especially to Slavek but also to everyone else since you 
all helped get to the heart of the issue not to mention my 
appreciation of the patient support!
