I also suspect the same thing. If your user is a "normal user", changing some system settings requires root
privileges. Some of the options in Control Center are like that, so when you are asked for a password it should say
something like "insert root password". You need to provide the root's password, not your user's password.

Please try again and if you still have errors, please post a screenshot of what you are doing and what the error looks
like.
