Hi,

In my opinion, tdm and ksmserver are two weak points of TDE. From my testing on Ubuntu with nightly builds, it broke up frequently and after a while, I just switched up to lightdm, but if it is needed, just for the sake of testing, I can reinstall my Ubuntu system to test it back. I saw too often moments where the system crashed at text mode login, instead of showing tdm, or moment when I could see ''ksmserver: the reliable session manager for TDE''. When I can see this text, it is obviously because it did crash.
KDE Plasma 5 switched to sddm, which is a new dm, probably for reliability reasons, and integration with newer technologies.
