I just found that the KDE version is still installed, and that it still 
works.

So my problem can be fixed if I type the full path to it.

I'll see what I can do about that. I presume there is a function in the 
menu editor that would allow me to add a couple launch links, 1 to 
kde-kcalc, and 1 to tde-kcalc.
