Paul,

  I don't know if this will help, but I wrote a quick script for Arch that
creates file lists for each Trinity package to help me sort out package issues.
I'm sure whatever package manager you use can be adapted to use the script. You
would just need to change the paths and the

  for i in $(pacman -Q | grep trinity ); do

and

  pacman -Qlq $pkgname >> ${listdir}/${lfname}

lines from 'pacman -Qxx' to whatever deb (or other distro) uses. Like for rpm
based distros it would be similar to:

  for i in $(rpm -qa | grep trinity ); do

and

  rpm -ql $pkgname >> ${listdir}/${lfname}

  The file lists have been really helpful when I need to see what got packaged
where. Example:

http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/dt/trinity/arch/flist/trinity-kdewebdev-list.txt

  The files are easier to grep than running find on the filesystem and you can
post them for others to inspect where you can't do that with your filesystem.
The script is:

http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/dt/trinity/arch/scr/tfilelist.sh
