"Bug 1287 - kmail does not honor the "Forever" option when accepting ssl
certificates"

I found this bug, Bug 1287,. It started in 2012 and has been reopened, most
recent comment #18, Kristopher, 8/28/2015. This looks similar to what I am
experiencing.

I do not get pop-up dialogs about the certificate. My error message is a time
out connection error..silently failing.

Google suggests kmail in kde 3.5.x had issues with retreiving mail with ssl.
This has been fixed in KDE4's Kmail.
