Thanks Thierry,
When I delete the "kate" directory in ".trinity/share/apps/"  the next 
time I open "apps" it's back...   Maybe respawning was the wrong 
word ?

Lisi, It's R14.0.  I hadn't checked "KControl".  But now you have 
pointed it out I will check there.  Thanks.

Thanks for the instructions on changing its priority in "Application 
Preference Order" seems to work.  At least it doesn't grab the "txt" 
files anymore.
