I've found it very usefull when coding (typically html or tcl). I never had issues with the fonts and kate allways did it's job very well. The "feature" I dislike is the file list on the left. I've never liked these explorer-like setups (the first thing I do when setting up konqueror is to hide the "navigation panel"). It somehow disturbs me to see all the files that were edited before (I also switch off sessions). There are those who like to shutdown and come back where they were, I belong to those that let the system clean up after them and rejoice in finding a clean desktop at their return (I probably dream of having a household with lots of servants... ) Kate is usefull for special purposes (it does let you create files with unix, windows or macintosh end-of-lines too), but it's too "complicated" for simple editing (for me, kedit is enough) and not enough for real text writing where I use libreoffice. So actually I felt the thread was more about how would it be possible to change the default editor in TDE :) This is the strength of TDE: let it behave as _you_ want instead of learning to behave as the system wants. Have a great day, Thierry
