Which distro was running KDE3?

R14 keeps settings in ~/.trinity, while KDE3 keeps settings in either ~/.kde
or possibly ~/.kde3, depending on the distro running it.

I recently did a "migration" that may have been much like you propose, for a
friend dependent on TTS functionality. He had KDE3 on openSUSE 13.1, 12.2 and
11.3. For him I put TDE on both openSUSE 42.1 and on Debian Stretch.

For my friend, I copied 13.1's ~/.kde/ to ~/.trinity/ using MC. IIRC, most,
but not all, KDE3 desktop settings were preserved in TDE. We were pleased
overall with the results. The few settings that were not carried over were
easy enough to adjust.
