You'll get that if your view profile was saved when using tree view.
Viewing everthing else in tree (or whatever) view is what we're after.

What does your settings > configure > Home URL link to? What is at the
top of that folders embedding preference list (properties > spanner)?
Is the home link the only place you get an icon view?
