I couldn't find a bug report either.  Just the threads in the mailing list 
last year.  [It is still 2016 here, so last year is 2015. ;-) ]

I'll attempt to create a bug report.

The problem is that the spell checker entry in the tools menu has disappeared, 
so I have been unable to run the spell-checker.  

But there is the workaround of adding an icon.  Perhaps the icon could be 
there by default?
