  As Felix indicates, any video card Intel, AMD or Nvidia would be fine. In
fact, the actual video "just working" has very little to do with TDE (or any
desktop for that matter). Whether it works with X (or Wayland) is the crux of
the issue. Having run numerous versions of Intel, AMD, Nvidia (and save us
Matrox), I can only think of one laptop ATI card that has had actual X issues
(that have gone unfixed) in the past 18 years. (specifically the [AMD/ATI]
RS690M [Radeon Xpress 1200/1250/1270] model)

  If you are having problems is desktop display performance, then the more
likely culprits are LOCALE settings and font configuration (as well as various
tweaks to apps like firefox in about:config that can make this crystal clear)

  For example, on servers, I generally use ancient card (fanless, no noise,
etc.) and the X-window graphic performance is great, e.g. an [AMD/ATI] RV370
[Radeon X300 SE] (circa. 2006?) works fine.

  As to a direct answer to your question, all desktop cards (within reason)
should "just work", as for laptops, a general consensus is Intel cards "just
work" and of all the laptop cards I've tried, all just worked except for the
RS690M, and that just worked up until the last shift in X that occurred a
couple of years ago.

  Look into the font config and make sure your LOCALE, etc. are properly
configured, and I wouldn't be surprised if most of your display issues went away.
