An easy way is to create fresh test user, experiment, drop and create again
until you found your solution.
You can achieve this by removeing the .trinity directory in your home (of
course logout first)
Make a backup first - in case you need something.

In my setup apply to non KDE app is checked with Plastik and standard color
scheme.

Perhaps you have problem with Gtk being misconfigured. remove also ~/.config
and ~/.cache
