There are plans to set up a round robin / failover system at some point in
the future, however as with most "minor" tasks this has been sitting on
the back burner for some time. Potential issues include ensuring that the
site is consistent across all mirrors, and the potential for referring
users to mirrors that are down (i.e. how will the global network state be
monitored and all single points of failure removed?). I have yet to see a
FOSS technology that can do this (though I admit my searching in this area
as not even scratched the surface), especially since the servers would be
located all around the world.

Input on ways to do this would be greatly appreciated, as it would also
help with the mirror system (which does not currently handle link errors
or mirror failure well at all).

Thanks!

Tim
