I think the html settings are different in that you have to choose to send and receive html, or maybe it is rather that one chooses not to send html but plain text only (like the Present Author). If I understand what you're (singular) asking and others (plural) discussing - how to make your text yellow and background black and quoted text green, and links red, et cetera ad infinitum et nauseam - I skimmed through the emails, sorry - then this ought to solve the problem.
