You might be interested in using kshowmail sometimes (i.e., 
kshowmail-trinity). Use kshowmail to preview only email headers; but you can 
also click to read plaintext versions of selected items. 

It has other features, too, but its best trick is to delete unwanted junk and 
spam directly from the server, so it never gets into your machine at all. 

Filters are better, but then they also sometimes catch non-spam that you might 
not want blocked. That's where kshowmail can be useful, as an intermediary 
email client, if you want to see, yet not download, all unfiltered emails; or 
when you are sorting through emails in order to set up your filters.
