Is somthing in 5.XX, that you miss now? You might get bitten by something like the thinkpad_acpi-spaming-dmesg-issue as happened to me. Is the 5.XX packaged with your distribution? If not, then I would not do it (well, I maybe would on my testmachine, but not on something that's not in my instant reach).
