But Openbox (I seem to recall), did cause me problems, and I have never used since, maybe five years ago. Before doing anything too extreme, though, since you are on a Debian system, try running this command (as root, that is sudo or su): dpkg-reconfigure tdm-trinity If this does not help, then it may be that you need to use dpkg again for manual purging of another version of desktop-base, to make sure that desktop-base-trinity is used instead. Or at least, this is what I have to do. But try dpkg-reconfigure first, then consider your next step. Bill
