Ubuntu Maverick or higher?  The reason I ask is that Ubuntu locked down
GDB from working as a normal user; see http://askubuntu.com/a/41656

Also, you will need the debugging symbol package kdebase-trinity-dbg
installed for the backtrace to be of any use.
