After a few minutes of "sudo apt-get install foo" I tracked the problem down to a missing libaudiofile0. It looks like Ubuntu now uses (1) libaudiofile1, a symlink might have fixed my problem but I needed a stable system so I went back to 11.10 and 3.5.13. Maybe libaudiofile0 is only a problem for me :P 1: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/amd64/libaudiofile0 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/amd64/libaudiofile1
