+1  But as an option. 

The vocabulary worries me.  It is not a question of DROPPING it, that would 
imply that it is already there and would need to be removed.  It is a 
question of ADDING it.  If the developers are game, I see no problem with 
having them as two available packages, and have already said so.

But I have also already said that I am chary of the constant pressure to add 
just this, add just that and become more like KDE4.

We have already gone over exactly this ground, tho' Alexandre has stopped 
calling it menu style and started calling it Kick-off..  It reminds me of 
Bart and Homer Simpson.  "Can we go Dad?"  "No."   "Can we go 
Dad?"  "No."   "Can we go Dad?"  "No." etc. until |Homer gives in.
