Or at least, the pool of those willing to admit it. :)  So let's assume the
DVDs are unencrypted, non-commercial DVDs, as are those I'm using to try to
debug this.

Now that I have your attention, Tim, can you think of any reason the disks
are getting automounted under XFCE but not under Trinity?
