Sorry for top post !

Thanks to Lisi for clueing me up on Gmail behaviour.
Also thanks to Alexandre and  Michele for replying to me, and thanks 
Michele for pointing me at the web archive.
My apologies to Tim for me not understanding the problem and thinking it 
was a list issue.

I've changed the isp that I use to send mail and this seems to have 
overcome the silly Gmail issue.  hence my abilty to reply to my own 
post.
