Hi Tim,

I'd have to reinstall to make sure, but I think yes I did not get a login 
screen. Loging out from Gnome Shell I get no option to change to TDE. My 
solution is to fire Synaptic, and uninstall Gnome Shell (and dependancies) - 
I just checked nothing important was being uninstalled with it.

No biggie for me, as I anyway don't want Gnome Shell...  Just a sign of the 
way Gnome is going (tha Microsoft way...).
