Hi,

The adept package does just this:
adept-trinity

I used it for years and it never failed except when it is time to
update the flash plugin because the repository for it is so slow that
the adept installer times out.

Adept Notifier provides a system tray icon notifying the user of
available updates. It will run Adept Updater for the user when
clicked.

A nice piece of user friendly software :-)
Just try it!
