But later. I'll report back again. It let me have everything except "mimetypes", any attempt to select which, made it change back from whatever it was to a general blank. I was going in and out of the one I actually wanted, because I kept changing my mind and trying something else. This was mildly tedious because when I clicked on "other icons" some directory I didn't want came up, and it meant "browsing" to my Downloads folder and searching for the icon I wanted all through the rather large (fortunately alphabetical) folder. Then the last time I did it, I clicked on "other icons" - and was immediately offered five only, including the one I wanted, no navigating at all. They turned out, on further examination, to be the only 5 .png files in my Downloads folder. Bizarre, or what??? Not that I am complaining! I don't mind my system being inexplicably intelligent. I only mind when it is unaccountably stupid. ;-) Thanks for the help. Lisi
