I've never seen "all the files that were edited before" in the
navigation panel... The Documents tab contains a list of _open_
documents. If you're seeing documents left open in a previous session,
you have "Load last-used session" enabled.

I really like the Filesystem Browser tab with its associated
navigation buttons (up/back/forward/home), Bookmarks and load Current
Document Folder functions. The Tab Bar Extension is also a must have
(much handier than the documents tab when you're using the filesystem
tab). I have not had any luck customizing the toolbars though (tab
extension to blame?).
