I have seen my files! In fact, I had decided on a complete reinstall next week, and am relieved to find that merely deleting .trinity might work, for considerably less effort! But I had not realised that these particular problems were due to that. Anyhow, if it were a bug, it is as likely in LXDE or Squeeze as in Trinity - and then there is always PEBKAC. I really can't do much until next week, but I shall try your suggestions. I could do with access to my KMail before Gmail drives me totally insane. Thanks, Lisi
