But it looks like the kmail color config is not part of the theme, nor is the konqueror background image.

The setting for the Konqueror background image seems to be kept in the XML file governing the current
theme, which I found in a subdirectory of .trinity/share/apps/tdestyle/themes/ .  The specific snippet goes:

  <konqueror>
    <wallpaper url="" />
    <bgcolor rgb="#000000" />
  </konqueror>

Not sure how much good that does anyone, though.
